I am a professor of paediatric dentistry at the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, UK. My research is very clinically-led and focuses on the impact of dental conditions and related treatment on children’s psychosocial status. Much of this research has involved children with molar incisor hypomineralisation or amelogenesis imperfecta. A further area of ongoing research relates to the management of child dental anxiety using a novel CBT intervention. I am currently involved in two NIHR-funded clinical trials within primary dental care and an international study exploring any association between MIH and other dental anomalies. A recent career highlight was being awarded a national honour (MBE) for my services to young people and the national health service. I keep ‘grounded’ by fell running, cycle touring and yoga.
